One Laptop per Child
While this is not necessarily ‘green’ I found it important to bring to our readers’ attention, because education is what will create the ability for the global world to communicate. Communication fosters the ability to work together and so on. So this is not about laptops, it’s about education. OLPC’s mission is to provide a means for learning, self-expression, and exploration to the nearly two billion children of the developing world with little or no access to education…. motivational. Worthy.

Mission Statement: To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.
